Vestry Meeting

Minutes

April 20, 2026

 

Call Meeting to Order:  Shirley

 

Opening Prayer: Doug

 

Vestry Members Present:   Sam, Carolyn, Frank, Doug, Shirley & Diana.

 

Others Present: The Rev.  Jim Stewart.

 

On Zoom: Sarah

 

Absent: None

 

Approve Current Agenda (Amendments/Changes, etc.) Carolyn made a motion to approve the current agenda with additions. Diana seconded and the motion carried

 

Approve Minutes: Doug made a motion to approve the minutes from the meeting on March 16, 2026. Frank seconded and the motion carried.

 

Treasurer's Report- Sarah Healy

Diana made a motion to accept the financials.  Carolyn seconded and the motion carried.

Old Business:

1.      Money from Pancake Supper:  $829.24 was given to the Discretionary Fund.

2.      Sarah’s Bond:  It has been Paid.

3.      Zoom Account for Jim:  As he is planning to retire in September Jim will be taking care of getting an account of his own.

New Business

1.      New Musician:  Sam made the motion that we hire Chris Anderson to play the piano/clavinova for St. Alban’s at the rate of $90 a Sunday.  Carolyn seconded and the motion carried.

2.      Confirmation Class:  Class started last week and they will continue to meet on Tuesday’s.  1 individual will be getting confirmed in Basin by Bishop Todd in August.

3.      Leveling the Field out Front:  After discussion Diana made the motion that we have Blas Pedraza level the field out front before the weeds are sprayed this spring.  Doug seconded and the motion carried.

4.      Reviewing the By-Laws:  We are going to review the Diocesan Canons before we proceed with and changes.

5.      St. Alban’s Want List:  Shirley would like us to make a list of what we would like in a rector.  There was discussion about what needs we would have in the event of sharing a priest with Thermopolis is something we decide to do in light of Jim retiring.

Reports:

1.                  Rector’s Report-The Rev. Jim Stewart: Jim reported that holy week went well as well as the lunch after the Good Friday service.  He let us know that we should be receiving the report from the building committee on the church in May.  Peace walk has been moved to June.  Confirmation will be in Basin on August 2nd.  Chris Anderson will begin playing this Sunday.  The Rev. Chris Galagan will be presiding here this Sunday.  1 new person will be trained as a worship leader and acolyte.  Jim will be taking vacation May 4-7 and May 26-28.

2.                  Sr. Warden's Report-Shirley Wildman:  Shirley reported that she has turned in the grant for the museum.  The Foundation will meet May 15th to choose those who will be reviewing grants.  Melissa from the diocesan office will be coming some time in the future to meet with all the surrounding churches to teach us how to audit one another.

3.                  Jr. Warden's Report-Samantha Strickler:  Sam reported that Ron has got all the sprinkler’s ready to go on the hillside and out front.  The bells are currently not working.  Sam has been in contact with the person who has worked on them in the past and they are out of the office at this time.  Sam will be putting the timers on the flower beds this week. 

4.                  Born Again-Shirley Wildman:  Born Again is giving 2 scholarships this year for $1,000 and those recipients were chosen at their last meeting.  They are also giving $500 to each of the 3 elementary schools to be put towards overdue lunches.  They are also giving $500 to Blessings in a Backpack.

5.                  ECW Report- Shirley Wildman:  ECW is planning to have a celebration after the kitchen is finished. 

6.                  Congregational Care Team:  They will be meeting May 11th at 9:00am.

7.                  Vestry Reports:  Carolyn reported that the Food Bank went very well.  4 people from Casper were here to observe and were very impressed at how it is done.  Frank reported he and Sheri are still working on a cover for the Labyrinth.

 

Next Vestry Meeting: May 18, 2026 at 6:00pm.
