Vestry Meeting

Minutes

May 19, 2025

Call Meeting to Order:  Jim

Opening Prayer: Jim

Vestry Members Present:   Sam, Rita,  Carolyn  & Doug.

Others Present: The Rev.  Jim Stewart & Sarah.

Absent:  Frank, Shirley & Diana.

Approve Current Agenda (Amendments/Changes, etc.) Doug made a motion to approve the current agenda with additions. Carolyn seconded and the motion carried

Approve Minutes: Rita made a motion to approve the minutes with corrections from the April 22nd meeting with corrections.   Doug seconded and the motion carried.

Treasurer's Report- Sarah Healy

Doug made a motion to except the financials.  Sam seconded and the motion carried.

Old Business:

1.      Little Sun Drummers:  The service went very well.  There were 39 people present.  We are going to talk to them about scheduling a time to come back in September.  Possibly have it in the Parish Hall next time so the drum is easier to see.

2.      Selling the Sprayer:  We will revisit this at the next meeting.

3.      Power Point & Bulletins:  Sam has only been printing 15 bulletins the last few weeks.  That seems to be enough as people are following along on the screens.  We are going to get a tv to put up in the back of the church that Jim and the Worship Leaders can see.

4.      Junior Warden Day:  Thank you to Carolyn for cleaning the carpets in the sanctuary with the carpet cleaner we received from Darby.  Jim will put a list up in the Narthex of tasks that are available for anyone who would like to help out.

5.      Signs:  A large sign was offered to us by another church.  We are going to decline the offer as we have been working on a sign already.

New Business

1.      Colby May Energy Audit:  We received the suggestions from Colby May on the energy audit.  He recommended that we look at replacing the water heater and furnace in the custodians closet off the Narthex.  He also recommended replacing the thermostats.  When Big Horn Heating does our next maintenance visit Sam will ask them how much it would cost to replace that furnace.  There is nothing wrong with the furnace or water heater at this time.  All the thermostats are new except the one in Jim’s office and the Narthex. 

2.      Strategic Plan Meeting:  Shirley and Jim feel it would be a good idea to revise our Strategic Plan and some things have changed.  The Vestry will meet May 5th from 9:00am-1:00pm to do so.

3.      Meet with Vestry:  The Vestry is to meet with Jim every 3 months to evaluate how things are going.  We will just add this to the meeting scheduled for May 5th.

Reports:

1.                  Rector’s Report-The Rev. Jim Stewart: Jim let us know that he has been taking a class with Chris Heart.  These meeting are helping to let committees know what one another are doing.  The Bishop visit went well.  He visited with Jim afterwards and said he thinks we are doing well as a church.  Property Committee is meeting 1-2 times a month.  Standing Committee is meeting every 2 weeks.  There will be a workshop here at St. Alban’s July 11th & 12th on the Sabbath.  Please talk to Sam or Jim about signing up.  All are welcome.  Jim is also taking a church administration class September – November.  Jim will be off May 27th-May 29th.  He may be taking some time off around June 12th when his son is here.

2.                  Sr. Warden's Report-Shirley Wildman:  Absent

3.                  Jr. Warden's Report-Samantha Strickler:  Sam fixed the soaker hose in the front flower bed.  She also spoke with Ron Havey about spraying the dandelions on the front grass. 

4.                  Born Again-Shirley Wildman:  Absent

5.                  ECW Report- Shirley Wildman:  Rita reported that the meals for the Bishop’s visit and the Little Sun Drummers went well.  ECW will not meet again until July to discuss the BBQ Festival.

6.                  Congregational Care Team:  Everything is going well.  We meet again on June 16th at 10:00am.

7.                  Vestry Reports:  Jim will ask the diocese if they are interested or know any church that might be interested in our old chairs.
