Vestry Meeting
Minutes
October 20, 2025
Call Meeting to Order: Shirley
Opening Prayer: Rita
Vestry Members Present: Sam, Rita, Carolyn, Frank, Shirley, Doug & Diana.
Others Present: The Rev. Jim Stewart, Sarah & Keith.
Approve Current Agenda (Amendments/Changes, etc.) Rita made a motion to approve the current agenda with additions. Diana seconded and the motion carried
Approve Minutes: Doug made a motion to approve the minutes from the meeting on September 15, 2025. Frank seconded and the motion carried.
Treasurer's Report- Sarah Healy
Doug made a motion to except the budget for 2026. Diana seconded and the motion carried.
Rita made a motion to except the financials. Carolyn seconded and the motion carried.
Old Business:
1. Roadside Sign: Keith is asking for help to repair the sign on the highway coming from Thermopolis as it is leaning quite a bit. Sam, Frank and Jim will meet him on October 23rd at 1pm to help fix it.
2. Convention: 2025 Convention went well as Shirley was voted back onto the Foundation Board, Sam was voted to the Diocesan Council and Jim to attend General Convention in 2026. The speaker was the Bishop of the Rio Grande. it was well attended and will be held in Sheridan next year.
3. Trunk or Treat: It will begin at 5:00pm. There will be pizza provided for those handing out candy.
4. Harvest Dinner: ECW is putting on a Harvest Dinner on November 5th at 5:30pm. They will be serving chili and stew along with rolls and cornbread. There will be a gift basket raffle and tickets will be sold for $5 each or 5 for $20. The drawing will be held on November 25th.
New Business
1. Annual Meeting: St. Albans Annual Meeting will be held on January 11, 2026 following church. Sam let everyone know what reports they are responsible for.
2. Grants: The Foundation announced that they will be offering a Love thy Neighbor grant for $5,000 to any church that would like to apply. Doug made the motion that St. Albans apply and give $500 to each pharmacy, $2,500 to the Worland Senior Center and $1,500 to the Ministerial Association, Diana seconded and the motion carried.
Reports:
1. Rector’s Report-The Rev. Jim Stewart: Jim let us know that that the pet blessing both here and at New Hope went very well. He attended a suicide awareness class at Grace Lutheran that he felt was very well done. His administration class is still going well. The band and choir leader from the high school has been in touch with the church about possibly using our space for their Christmas concert. We have 2 funerals coming up. Standing Committee is currently working on hiring someone who would serve as counselor to the bishop search committee.
2. Sr. Warden's Report-Shirley Wildman: Shirley reported that she was nominated to the Foundation.
3. Jr. Warden's Report-Samantha Strickler: Sam will be painting the window seals out front Saturday. All timers for flower beds have betaken off for winter and the sprinkler systems have been winterized.
4. Born Again-Shirley Wildman: Born Again gave $400 to Stamp Out Hunger, $1,000 to the Worland Senior Center and $1,000 to the Chief Washakie FFA.
5. ECW Report- Shirley Wildman: ECW is hosting a Harvest Dinner November 5th from5:30pm-7:30pm. Chili, beef stew, rolls & cornbread will be served along with dessert. There will be tickets available to purchase and win a gift basket. Tickets will $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. The drawing will take place on November 25th. We will have an at will offering and all proceeds from that and the drawing will go towards a new stove hood in our kitchen.
6. Congregational Care Team: They met today and keeping in touch with a large group of people.
7. Vestry Reports: Frank reported that he Sheri met with the Amish contractor and he is working on a bid for a cover for the labyrinth. The family of Donna Moberly has generously offered to pay for this in memory of Donna. We will look into grants for the landscaping. Rita is working on all that goes along with purchasing a new stove hood. She will keep us posted.
