Rector’s Ramblings

June 2026

by The Rev. Jim Stewart

Summer is upon us.  It is time to get out of the house and explore the beautiful mountains around our area.  My wife and I have started a new adventure in collecting and polishing rocks from around our area.  This is something both of us have had an interest in since we were very young.  I also am ready to get back into wood carving and will need a new supply of wood and horns to continue forward.  What an opportunity to get out and see God’s creation around us.

I have been in the area for about four years and have seen very little of the Big Horn mountains, so this is the time to go exploring.  My first stop as always is St. Christophers on top of the mountain.  This is a great place to stop and meditate at any time during the day.

St. Christophers will begin services at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays from July throughout August with our fine worship leaders, Corolyn (Keith) and Sarah (Mike) conducting the services.  If you have never attended these morning prayer services, this is the time to see what they are all about and afterwards you can go to the lake or any of the other hiking adventures close by.  Don’t forget to take a camera to preserve some of your memories.

During the month of June with the Guidance of Keith and a grant from the diocese, we are contracting to have some new logs installed and old rotten ones removed for the pews.  This will make a great new upgrade for the outdoor chapel.

I would like to give a great big thank you to these individuals for all their dedication and time spent keeping this place a holy place for all that visit and enjoy a wonderful experience.

During my visits I was able to sit quietly in the pews and watch the deer graze by, watching the birds and chipmunks as well as in the early morning I have heard the coyotes calling to one another.  At the lake below it is always nice to watch the moose as they graze on the hillside near Meadowlark Lake while floating along on my Kayak.  It is amazing to hear and see what God gives us in our silence.

Find time to enjoy the great outdoors that God has provided for us and to give Him thanks no matter where you are in your lives.  Sit and listen and take in our many blessings from God.
