Vestry Meeting

Minutes

April 22, 2025

 

Call Meeting to Order:  Shirley

 

Opening Prayer: Rita

 

Vestry Members Present:  Frank, Sam, Rita, Diana, Carolyn, Shirley & Doug.

 

Others Present: The Rev. Jim Stewart & Darby Palmer.

 

Absent:  Sarah

 

Approve Current Agenda (Amendments/Changes, etc.) Diana made a motion to approve the current agenda with additions. Carolyn seconded and the motion carried

 

Approve Minutes: Doug made a motion to approve the minutes with corrections from the March 18th meeting with corrections.   Jim seconded and the motion carried.

 

Treasurer's Report- Sarah Healy

Rita made a motion to transfer $10,000 from our Ameriprise cash account to cover bills.  Carolyn seconded and the motion carried.

Carolyn made a motion to except the financials.  Diana seconded and the motion carried.

 

 

Old Business:

1.      Holy Week:  We had 2 Stations of the Cross services, Maundy Thursday, Community Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday services.  Everything seemed to go well.

New Business

 

1.      Little Sun Drummers:  The Little Sun Drummers will be here May 11th at 4:00pm.  There will be a service with light meal to follow all in the Parish Hall.  Approximant cost will be $80 per car.  Usually there are 3 cars.  $125 and mileage to the Rev. Roxanne Friday who will be preaching.  Gifts have been given to them from St. Albans.  ECW will meet to discuss the meal.

2.      Vestry Member Term Length: Corrections were made stating that Doug’s term will end and the close of 2025 with the option to run for another term.

3.      Selling the Sprayer: We are resuming our attempt to sell the large sprayer in the garage.  Frank is going to take a look at it and see what it is worth. Sam made a motion to sell the sprayer.  Frank seconded and the motion carried.

4.      Power Point & Bulletins:  Starting on April 27th the Sunday bulletin will  be on the 2 television screens in the sanctuary.  Starting May 4th Sam will begin printing half the normal amount of bulletins as everything will be on the screens.  We are going to look at getting a movable speaker with a microphone that can be used outside or in the Parish Hall when needed.  Also getting 2 more microphones for the sanctuary.

 

Reports:

1.                  Rector’s Report-The Rev. Jim Stewart: Jim let us know that he has attended 2 funerals, continues to attend the Ministerial Association that was held here last month.  Bible Study has finished.  The services at The Boys School are going well.  The electric inspection was done and we are still waiting to here back.  He continues his Standing Committee duties. He would like us to schedule a Junior Warden day in the near future. 

2.                  Sr. Warden's Report-Shirley Wildman:  Shirley thanked everyone for participating in Holy Week. 

3.                  Jr. Warden's Report-Samantha Strickler:  Sam reported that she removed the cover from the light panel in the vesting room.  She is going to talk to Pillar about cleaning the carpet in the Parish Hall. Jim let Sam know that we need to call Jadeco to open the box that operates the bell as it is not getting a power.

4.                  Born Again-Shirley Wildman:  Born Again is having a big sale this week.  They learned that they are the only second-hand store that has not raised their prices in the area.

5.                  ECW Report- Shirley Wildman:  They will meet soon to discuss the meal for the Little Sun Drummers service.

6.                  Congregational Care Team:  They met on April 15th and are continuing to reach out to our church family

7.                  Vestry Reports:  Frank reported that the labyrinth seemed to do well this winter with no damage at this time.  He is looking into bids for a structure to cover and provide shade.
