Vestry Meeting

Minutes

September 15, 2025

 

Call Meeting to Order:  Shirley

 

Opening Prayer: Doug

 

Vestry Members Present:   Sam, Rita, Carolyn, Frank, Shirley, Doug & Diana.

 

Others Present: The Rev.  Jim Stewart & Sarah

 

Approve Current Agenda (Amendments/Changes, etc.) Carolyn made a motion to approve the current agenda with additions. Diana seconded and the motion carried

 

Approve Minutes: Rita made a motion to approve the minutes from the meeting on August 18, 2025. Carolyn seconded and the motion carried.

 

Treasurer's Report- Sarah Healy

 Doug made a motion to except the financials.  Frank seconded and the motion carried.

John Shaw at the Vestry’s request moved the cash accounts into money market account.  Doug will meet with Sarah to start working on the 2026 budget. 

 

Old Business:

1.      Altar Guild:  We received the new candles and had them adjusted by Worley Welding to fit better.  We also received the new glass cruets that are engraved in memory of Shirley Runge and have been using them.  All are working out great.

2.      Smoke /Carbon Monoxide Detectors & Fire Extinguishers: Sam installed all the new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors.  She installed 7 in all.  The fire extinguishers have been ordered from Frandson. 

3.      Banner Posts:  Doug made the motion that Frank order 2 sets of posts that will be permanent so that we can post signs about upcoming events.  Carolyn seconded and the motion carried.  Frank will talk to Ron Harvey to see about where they should be placed on the hillside.

4.      Convention:  Everyone is signed up and rooms have been booked. 

New Business

1.      Trunk or Treat: It will begin at 5:00pm.  Everyone is welcome to come hand out candy we just ask that you bring your own candy.  We will be providing pizza for dinner.

2.      Road Sign:  Sam made a motion that Carolyn contact her cousin who has property along the highway coming from Thermopolis and see if we can move our leaning sign there to help level it.  Doug seconded and the motion carried.

Reports:

1.                  Rector’s Report-The Rev. Jim Stewart: Jim let us know that he finished his college course.  He attended preconvention at TAC.  The zoom budget meetings were attended by all our delegates.  He attended the men’s breakfast at Zion this past Saturday.  The administrative class he is taking is going well.  Bible study is set to start October 1st at 6:00pm.  Sheridan has an individual who has shown interest in possibly helping at St. Christopher’s with services next summer.  The worship committee has started meeting again after a summer break.  He is running as a delegate for national convention in July of 2027.  He let us know that the Worland Ministerial Association is in need of funds.  There is a zoom on the upcoming resolutions on September 22nd at 6:00pm.  There is a meet the candidates zoom on September 25th at 6:00pm.  The property committee should be at St. Albans by February 2026.

2.                  Sr. Warden's Report-Shirley Wildman:  Shirley reported that is running for Standing Committee.

3.                  Jr. Warden's Report-Samantha Strickler:  Sam reported that Dan Mattis cleaned the carpets in the Parish Hall and they look great.  She also reported that someone came into the office and said they smelled gas.  There was no gas leak found in the church.  Some elbow joints outside were replaced but the plumber made it clear that it was nothing anyone would have been able to smell.   

4.                  Born Again-Shirley Wildman:  The store is set to reopen tomorrow.  Shirley is going to contact the newspaper about doing an article to help stop people from leaving donations when they are closed as they get ruined and end up in the garbage. 

5.                  ECW Report- Shirley Wildman:  There will be an ECW retreat in Casper April 10th & 11th.  A Harvest Fest Dinner is being planned for November 5th at 5:30pm.  It will be a free will offering.  They will have baskets available to raffle and all proceeds from the night will go toward the new hood for the stove.

6.                  Congregational Care Team:  They will meet on October 13th at 9:00am.

7.                  Vestry Reports:  Frank reported that he and Doug repainted the handicap parking spaces.  He also let us know he has contacted an Amish contractor about a bid for putting a cover over the labyrinth.
